Jerry Nance is one of those rare individuals who cross our path infrequently, yet our lives are powerfully impacted for having known them.
With qualifications such as:
- B.S. in Christian Ministry from Southwestern University
- Masters in Counseling from Barry University
- PhD in Philosophy, Leadership and Education specializing in Counseling from Barry University
Jerry Nance is more than capable of directing the Teen Challenge program. Yet he is so much more. The one word which describes Jerry best is “servant.”
Dr. Jerry Nance has served as the President/CEO of Teen Challenge of Florida/Georgia since 1991.
Beginning with one rented facility in Winter Haven, Florida, Teen Challenge has grown to over 20 centers in six states, caring for more than one thousand boys, girls, men and women under his leadership. Jerry graduated from Southwestern University with a B.S. in Christian Ministry, completed his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Barry University, and has completed his PhD in Leadership Education with a specialization in counseling at Barry University.
Jerry served with World Challenge for five years as Crusade Associate for David Wilkerson, the founder of Teen Challenge. In that role he was responsible for organizing crusades, as well as developing and directing multiple inner-city outreaches to reach drug-addicted people. He served as a senior pastor and an associate pastor in several churches working with youth, counseling and developing programs for married couples.
Jerry serves on the Board of Directors of Teen Challenge USA. After serving 12 years on the Global Teen Challenge Board of Directors, he was asked to serve as President/CEO of Global Teen Challenge in 2007. He is a valued coach and mentor for Teen Challenge leaders, provides leadership training and assists in developing Teen Challenge centers and programs around the world.
His passion for this ministry is evident in his commitment to share what he and his team of leaders have learned and developed with other Teen Challenge leaders around the world. The servant leadership model is a part of the corporate culture.
Jerry and his wife, Libby, have been married for more than 30 years. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
